K9 Bytes Software has been developing innovative solutions for the pet care industry for over 20 years. K9 Over 20 years of K9 BytesBytes was founded in 1988 by Bill Pace and George Alston, with the first version of the K9 Koordinator for DOS. The K9 Koordinator was one of the first software tools designed specifically for the pet care industry in the world. Today, K9 Bytes offers a variety of products for the pet care industry, including complete software management systems for boarding kennels, grooming shops, doggy daycare centers, dog walking, and pet sitting services. K9 Bytes employs experienced software developers and pet care specialists coming from different academic backgrounds and having a broad set of skills and solid experience. Joshua Candamo

Joshua Candamo, PhD

Chief Executive Officer

Joshua Candamo has been involved in dog breeding and show handling with his family all his life. Dr. Candamo received a PhD degree in Computer Science with minor concentrations in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of South Florida. His main areas of research and technical publications are in the fields of Patter Recognition and Image Processing. Joshua has been invited all over the United States to give seminars and talks about applying technology to the pet care industry, and talks about his research applications.

Bill Pace was one of the founders of K9 Bytes Software back in 1988. Working side-by-side with George Alston led The K9 Koordinator to become one of the most widely used software for boarding kennels and grooming shops. Bill Pace graduated with a Bachelors degree in Parks Recreation and Conservation at the University of East Carolina. Bill has been in the kennel business since the early 70s and is owner of Cobble Hill Bed and Biscuit. He also showed dogs professionally for over 26 years.

George Alston

George Alston

Co-Founder

George Alston together with Bill Pace founded K9 Bytes Software back in 1988. Mr. Alston serves as a consultant for the software design of our programs. He has been involved with the boarding kennel industry as an owner and manager for over 50 years. He is the author of the famous book for handlers The Winning Edge, and dictates handling seminars all over the country. In his career as a professional handler, he handled dogs to more than 200 Best in Shows and 600 Group Ones.

Technical Support

Michelle Mugridge has a life long love for pets and computers.  She has worked as a manager in the pet industry for over 5 years.  She is self-taught on computers but worked at a K9 Bytes beta testing facility for over 2 years where she learned the software in a "practical" setting.  She is currently a Technical Support Agent and a Setup Trainer for K9 Bytes Software.  She will gladly assist in customizing the software for your business.

Justin roberts

Justin Roberts, who originally hails from Newark, is one of the newest additions to the K9 Bytes support team. With a background in communications and media, Justin has also raised and bred farm animals in Okeechobee, FL. He is currently in the process of completing his degree in Mass Communication and will gladly assist you with any technical questions you may have regarding the software.

Customer Service

Christopher Smutko is originally from the Tampa Bay area. He received his associate's degree from St. Petersburg College and his Bachelor's degree in History from the University of South Florida. He has also been a member of the National History Honor Society since 2008. Chris joined K9 Bytes as a Customer Service specialist in July 2009.

Jeanny Candamo has bred Golden Retrievers for over 20 years, and owned and managed a boarding kennel in Florida. She is currently part of the K9 Bytes Software Customer Service team.

John Freed joined the K9 Bytes team in 2008, and leads the product training services in K9 Bytes. John owns and manages two boarding kennels in South Carolina, and has extensive experience in all services offered by the pet care industry.

Doug Dominique graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors degree in Marketing. Doug joined K9 Bytes with over 15 years of retail management experience. He also has been a Certified Payment Consultant in the merchant services industry since 2003. Doug leads payment integration sales at K9 Bytes.

Randy  Stallings

Randy Stallings

Software Engineer - Accounting and QuickBooks Integration

Randy Stallings has over 30 years of experience in the development of commercial software applications. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematical Sciences, Randy’s experience includes customizing accounting applications such as general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory control, and bill of materials, as well as developing a revenue management system for tracking unearned revenue through revenue recognition. He participated in the startup of two software development firms serving the financial services industry, developing software to assist professional financial planners in tax planning, retirement planning, estate planning, and cash flow management, as well as managing the development of investment management performance evaluation software products serving the plan sponsor, investment manager, and investment consultant market.

Christopher Gillis is a student at the University of South Florida. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and is currently going back to school pursuing a degree in Computer Science. He is a Florida native and grew up in Brevard County. He moved to Tampa in 2003 to go to school. He started with K9 Bytes as a Tech Support Specialist in November of 2009.
